Tourist Places
Srinagar
If there is Heaven on Earth, then it is in Srinagar. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar is an ideal place for holiday especially during the summers; however you can visit this place throughout the year as well. Srinagar is located in the western part of the Kashmir valley of Northern India. This hill station is visited by travelers from outside India as well. The flowing Jhelum River adds to the beauty and serenity of the city. History says that during 3rd century BC, Srinagar was a part on the Mauryan Empire. This city has been often termed as the Paradise on Earth. This hill resort is also well known for its gardens and lakes. The various tourist attractions make it worth visiting time and again. A couple of tourist sites, which you should not miss in Srinagar are Dal Lake, Shankaracharya Temple, Shalimar Bagh and many more.

Gulmarg
Gulmarg's -aka "meadow of flowers'- legendary beauty, prime location and proximity to Srinagar naturally make it one of the premier hill resorts in the country. It is located in the Baramulla district of Kashmir at an altitude of 2,730 m. Gulmarg is 56 km southwest from the capital city of Srinagar and is close to the Indo-Pakistan border. A huge cup-shaped lush green meadow, Gulmarg looks like something out of a fantasy, and in spring, the green meadows are dotted with colorful bluebells, daisies, forget-me-nots and buttercups. Surrounding them are snow-capped mountains, and on a clear day, one can see all the way to Nanga Parbat in one direction and Srinagar in another. Come December, and the luxuriant green slopes of Gulmarg are blanketed with snow, forming some of the finest natural slopes for ski runs of all levels. It is during this time that Gulmarg acquires a new persona - the country's premier heli-skiing resort. There are immense beauty and adventure activities that make Gulmarg much more than a cool hill resort.

The journey to Gulmarg is half the enchantment of reaching there-- roads bordered by avenues of poplar gives over to flat expanses of rice fields interspersed with picturesque villages. Depending on the season, nature's colours could be the translucent green of spring, summer's rich emerald, or autumn's golden hues, when scarlet chilies festoon windows of village homes. After Tangmarg, the climb to Gulmarg begins through fir-covered hillsides. At one point, known simply as View Point, travelers generally stop their vehicles for a few minutes and look out a spectacle of snow-covered mountains, almost within touching distance.

Pahalgam
Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds) is situated at an altitude of 2,133 meters amidst lofty deodars, fir, pine, junipers and many other conifers. The place gets lively during the tourist months of the summer, as well as during the weeks before the Amarnath Yatra, as the base for a big annual pilgrimage to a cave of an 'ice-lingam' There is something about the pure and re-vitalizing air of Pahalgam. Perhaps dense pine and cedar forests make it oxygen rich. Limited accessibility combined with limited telecom connectivity makes it an ideal getaway from the grind of daily life and professional stress. The town is at the junction of the Aru and Sheshnag Rivers and surrounded by soaring, fir-covered mountains with bare, snow-capped peaks rising behind them. The Aru flows down from the Kolahoi glacier beyond Lidderwat while the Sheshnag from glaciers along the great Himalayas.

Sonmarg
For all those adventure loving people who wish to enjoy camping at a hill station, Sonmarg is the ideal destination. Tourists flock to this small hill resort in heavy numbers to see the enchanting natural beauty and snow clad peaks. Known as the 'Meadow of Gold', Sonmarg is set amidst a valley of flowers and lakes. The word “Son” literally means “Gold” in Hindi, and this golden beauty covered with white snow is most attractive in the spring. The exotic flora of the region is nurtured by the Sindh River. Sonmarg is the gateway to Ladakh.

The dense forests of Sonmarg comprise of sycamore and alpine flowers, silver birch, fir and pine. The place is frequently visited by nature lovers in the search of tranquil peace and soothing natural beauty. The stunning blue water lakes and grasslands are the other attractions. The enchanting beauty of the towering snow clad mountains is a real treat to the eyes.
